A structured 30-minute swim workout covers 800–1,500 yards depending on your level — with purpose built into every part. Here's the breakdown.
Warm-up
200–300 yards of easy swimming to get your breathing settled, your stroke loose, and your body temperature up before the work begins.
Drill set
Technique work — catch drills, rotation drills, or kick sets. In a short session this is non-negotiable. Technique built here carries into every session after.
Main set
The heart of the session. Short, focused reps at your chosen effort level — aerobic base, threshold, or race pace. Intervals are set for your level so rest is built in.
Cool-down
Easy 100–200 yards. Lets your heart rate come down and your muscles flush before you get out. Worth keeping even when you're in a rush.
Scaled to your pace
A beginner 30-minute session looks different from an elite one. The generator scales the intervals, rest, and yardage to match where you actually are.
Works with what you have
Just goggles? Select "None." Have a pull buoy and kickboard? Include them. The session builds around your bag.
30 minutes, done consistently, builds real fitness.
The biggest mistake swimmers make with short sessions is treating them like they don't count. So they swim a few easy laps, call it done, and feel like they wasted the trip to the pool.
A structured 30 minutes is different. You know what you're doing from the first push off the wall. You finish the drill set feeling your stroke improve. You push through the main set because you know exactly how many reps are left. You get out having done something real.
Two structured 30-minute sessions a week beats one aimless hour, every time. The generator makes sure you're never just filling time in the water.
